We all had an absolutely amazing day out this week organised by The Brain Tumour Charity (courtesy we suspect of an amazingly altruistic benefactor).
The day started with an ice-breaking session followed by arts and crafts whilst families waited their turn to be taken on a once in a lifetime private helicopter ride, which included a circle over Silverstone racecourse!
I wasn’t sure at first whether William would have the confidence to take part but, as he has a habit of doing, he surprised us all and had a great time.
I also got the opportunity to speak to the charity’s CEO and, although a) this is the second event of theirs we have attended, and b) I’m involved in their Research Involvement Network, I hadn’t fully appreciated how much they focus on the opinions of those affected by brain tumours when allocating their research funding.
They’re certainly a charity worth supporting. I’ll be doing a separate post about this shortly but if you’ve experienced anything like what we have with a brain tumour then please register it at BRIAN and help give a voice to anecdotal stories.
